Are subcontractors important in construction project implementation?
Subcons are very important because, the main contractor simply cannot/may not have all the specialised skills necessary to complete the project. The subcons specialise in their area of work and would have honed their knowledge and skills in that particular area. They would have the necessary specialist engineers/technical staff to handle installation and servicing. This could be cheaper and more efficient for both the main contractor and also the client. Managing all the departments necessary to offer the work of subcons, can be quite a task and also uneconomical to the main contractor. So, yes subcons play a very important role, I don't think the industry can manage without them. Best
